1977
Under a lucky star right from the start. It is now over a quarter of a century ago, back in 1977, that Qualified Engineer Wilhelm Oberaigner founded a Mercedes-Benz sales outlet with affiliated service centre workshop on the market square in Rohrbach. In addition to the service and distribution for the complete spectrum of cars and utility vehicles from Daimler-Benz AG, special fittings were provided on request for vehicles which were not contained in the factorys range. For this first entrance into the development and production of vehicle technology aggregates, there was an initial team of 2 mechanics, 2 trainees and one office worker.
1981
At the beginning of the 80s, the decisive Stepp was taken in the direction of vehicle technology with the development and design of a differential lock for transport series.
1983
This entry into a new line of business and the building up and extension of this further field of business combined with lasting expansion of the business, which also led to growth of the team to 15 employees, made it necessary to build new premises on the relief road in Rohrbach. Thanks to this extension of the operation, it was possible to make rapid increases in turnover.
1985
In order to further improve the traction in the utility vehicle segment, the next milestone in the direction of mechanical engineering and vehicle technology was laid with the development of a four-wheel drive for the T1 transporter series from Daimler-Chrysler AG. Due to the great demand and the increasing numbers of items, two further transporter series and their successor models in different weight classes were converted to four-wheel drive, the Oberaigner company has since acted as the fixed systems supplier for Daimler-Chrysler.
1992
At the beginning of the 90s, due to the strong growth, especially in the field of vehicle technology, a new building was required, which went into use in 1992 and was intended for the showroom, offices, replacement part stores and engine-fitting as well as panel-beating, painting and assembly zones.
1998
The explosive growth in the field of mechanical engineering made it sensible to split the operation into two independent companies.
The Mercedes-Benz service centre has been the Oberaigner Automobile Ges.m.b.H. (www.oberaigner.at) since August 1998, under the management of Mr. Gerald Schörgenhuber. In addition to the sale of new and used cars, the range of services also comprises customer service and servicing of the complete Mercedes-Benz range.
Wilhelm Oberaigner Ges.m.b.H. has since then concentrated exclusively upon the field of vehicle technology, under the management of Mr. Wilhelm Oberaigner. In addition to the development, testing, production and assembly of HGV systems and components, complete systems solutions and prototype construction are also included in the very design-intensive range of services.
2002
Numerous international enquiries from the most varied manufacturers of automobiles, aircraft and ships, which reflect the capability in research and production and the rapid expansion to over 50 employees of the vehicle technology company, required the spatial as well as legal separation of the two firms. Within 6 months. As a result, the Nebelberg site, close to the Bavarian border on over 25ha of premises, a highly modern high-tech factory with extensive production and assembly halls, a development and design office and an administration building. Already at the end of February, the departments for production, assembly and quality assurance could go into operation, the administration and business management were transferred at the end of March.
