The Oberaigner story.
1977
Wilhelm Oberaigner founds a Mercedes-Benz sales and service company in the center of Rohrbach. The product portfolio also included options that were not available from Daimler which founded the basis for future automotive developments. The staff included two mechanics, two apprentices and a office worker.
1981
Beginning of the 1980s Oberaigner developed the first differential lock for a Mercedes-Benz transporter.
1983
The expansion of the company with additional design capacities required the new building in Rohrbach. The company employed 15 persons by then.
1985
Oberaigner develops the all-wheel drive for the Mercedes-Benz transporter series T1. Based on the huge success of that development Oberaigner developed the AWD systems for two further series and their successors and Oberaigner became a qualified system supplier for Daimler.
1992
Further expansion of the premises in Rohrbach with show room, office, spare parts warehouse, metalworking shop, paint shop and assembly facilities.
1998
The fast expansion of the engineering branch of the company led to a split up into separate companies.
2002
International demand of the automotive, aerospace and marine industry required more space and more machinery. Within only six months the new engineering competence center, the production and the assembly plants have been errected on an area of 25 hectares in Kollerschlag/Rohrbach, near the German border. The plants have been equipped with the latest state-of-the-art machinery and equipment to fulfill all high-end standards of the automotive industry.
2004
Extension of product portfolio in AWD systems, development, fuel cells and hybrid drive. Several own developments progress.
2006
Investment in further assembly lines and test beds.
2009
Oberaigner develops the new innovative Oberaigner 6x6 on basis Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Opel and Skoda Kirchberger with several locations in Upper Austria joins the Oberaigner Group.
2010
Oberaigner expands its product with new vehicles such as the AWD versions of the Renault Master, the Opel Movano or the Volkswagen Crafter. Furthermore Oberaigner offers the Mercedes-Benz Vito/Viano AWD with 6-cylinder engines and manual transmission. Further vehicles from the transporter segment are in the works.
Oberaigner also presents its products for the first time at the IAA 2010 Trucks exhibition. The Oberaigner 6x6 instantly becomes the most photographed vehicle on the exhibition.
2011
The errection of the new production and development facility at the Rostock/Laage airport, the development of the aerosapce engine REC and the development of the new business aircraft NAC are the foundations for Oberaigner's expansion plans that will more than double Oberaigner's workforce in the next years. Oberaigner creates sustainable jobs!
